Tagaytay – Evening (02MAY2012)

After visiting People’s Park, we returned to the hotel for the evening, and had another great dinner.  Next day will be heading back to Zambales via Manila.  Plan on stopping at the Mall of Asia.   Someone told me that it can take two days to see every store in the mall.

We ate breakfast from 0730 am to 0830 am, then departed for the lake.  We had planned departing earlier but were running a little slow.  It may have been the quietness of Tagaytay in the  evening.  All of us slept very well. After finishing … Continue reading

Drive to Lake Taal (01MAY2012)

A view of Lake Taal, late afternoon. Dotted on the lake is fish farms and a rain shower approaching from the east.

After lunch, we returned to the hotel for a few minutes.  My asawa (wife) and Nanay (mother-in-law) walked up the street to see a visit a few of the fruit and flower stands.  Then, we decided to take a ride down to the lake.  The was a local guide Gilbert on a motorcycle that escorted us down to the lake.  The drive to the lake is about 30 minutes.   You will see many switch backs on the decent.  Stopped at a few places during the decent to take photos.  Once near lake level took a left, then Gilbert guided us to a boat landing area.  Once at the landing area, Gilbert stated that we should take a boat across the lake and climb to volcano.  I noted some rain showers moving over the area and decided to wait for the climb the next morning.   i took a few more photos and then we returned to the hotel for the evening.

The Theodore Hotel and Staff

This gallery contains 10 photos.

Sometimes you stay at a hotel and really enjoy the experience.    The site was excellent and the staff was outstanding.  This is one of the small gems in the Philippines.

THE THEODORE HOTEL

We were going to stay one night at the hotel, but changed our plans and spent two nights.   The Theodore only has ten rooms, and is very quiet.  The service from the staff was outstanding during our stay.  The rooms include breakfast and dinner for two quests.  The diner menu is pre-planned, but the staff was flexible the second night and was able to accommodate our request. The first night, the hotel chef served us an  outstanding Italian meal.  You have to let the staff know what time you will be eating breakfast, lunch and dinner.  We eat out in town for lunch each day during our stay.

TRIP TO TAGAYTAY (01MAY TO 03MAY)

We departed the Olongapo area around 0800 am in the morning.  Our driver started out taking the SCTEX, but decided to use the older road that runs closer to Manila Bay from Dinalupihan to Manila.  Then we hit the North Luzon Expressway into Manila.  Traffic was crazy in Manila, especially along Roxas Blvd.   Once south of Manila, took the coastal road via Cavite City, then up to Tagaytay.   Arrived sometime around 1 PM.  After checking into “The Theodore Hotel” , went to lunch at Max’s Restaurant, located long the Tagaytay Ridge:

Aguinaldo Highway, Brgy. Maharlika East
Tagaytay, Cavite, Philippines

Specialties:

Max’s Fried Chicken, Ruby’s Favorite Kare-Kare, Pancit Canton, Crispy Pata, Fresh Lumpiang Ubod Sinigang Baboy, Sinigang Hipon, Bicol Express, Tokwa Kininchay and Asparagus with Tofu, Adobo Flakes, Max’s Tapa, Max’s Tocino, Chicken Sisig and Hototay

From Max’s there is a view of Lake Taal.
